he report finds that the shipment volume of the global motherboard industry declined both sequentially and year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2020, reaching 25.5 million units. The decline was mainly attributed to the shortage of key components despite new rollouts in the fourth quarter. The industry's shipment volume is anticipated to witness 14.5% sequential decline in the first quarter of 2021 due mainly to the 25% punitive U.S tariff as nearly 90% of motherboards are still made in China. The shortage is anticipated to ease in the second half of 2021 but the effect of punitive tariffs will likely stay and affect the industry’s shipment performance in 2021.
