The advancement of the self-driving industry and technology has further increased the importance of driver monitoring systems in the transition from manned to unmanned vehicles. This report analyzes the development of driver monitoring system patents, and patent portfolios and strategies of three major assignees: Hyundai, Toyota, and Honda.
