This report provides a detailed analysis of oil and gas construction projects globally, based on projects tracked by GlobalData.
GlobalData is tracking oil and gas construction projects with a total value of $3.3 trillion, from the pre-planning stage to the execution stage. Most of the projects are in the late stages (pre-execution and execution), amounting to $2.2 trillion or 65% of projects by stage. Assuming all projects in the currently tracked pipeline proceed according to their schedules and spending is distributed evenly across the execution stage, annual pipeline expenditure may reach $410.9 billion in 2025 and $556.4 billion in 2026. Between 2027 and 2029, spending on the currently tracked pipeline may reach an annual average of $390.4 billion. Private financing accounts for more than half of the funding (54.4%), public financing accounts for 34.1% and public-private financing accounts for 11.5% of all the projects tracked by GlobalData. The majority of projects tracked by GlobalData are onshore projects, accounting for $2.6 trillion or 79%, with offshore accounting for $703.7 billion (21%) of projects.
